The LBP Guidance professionals provide counselling services, as well as academic and vocational guidance, to the students in our high schools, and adult and vocational training centres. The Guidance professionals have master's degrees, and many are full members of the Ordre des Conseillers et Conseillères d’Orientation du Québec (OCCOQ).
We work as part of multi-disciplinary school teams to help facilitate the academic success and social development of our students. Guidance Team members in schools or centres often provide liaison with community based partners from the health and social service sectors.
The Guidance professionals are assigned to a specific school and are available for consultation by students, staff, and parents on a daily basis. They strive to create a safe and caring environment where students can receive timely intervention in a period of crisis as well as ongoing support and guidance throughout their time in the school or centre.
Post-Secondary Applications
SRAM round 3 decisions will be posted by June 13th. If you are refused in round 3, or would like to inquire about a program change for fall 2026, please contact admissions on Friday, June 19th to explore which day division programs may still have space.
Alternative options include:
1 – Continuing Education (part time, night studies) in July once receiving your final marks, and then transferring to the regular division in the winter semester. As long as students meet graduation requirements by July-August, they are eligible for continuing education. Students must apply on SRAM (John Abbott & Vanier College) or directly from the CEGEP’s website (Dawson College).
2 - TAV college or other private colleges (e.g., LaSalle College). They are still accepting applications for fall.
3 – Applying to CEGEP by November 1st to start in January. Students may also wish to consider retaking some core courses in adult education during the summer/fall to improve grades prior to reapplying to CEGEP. Registration for summer courses at Place Cartier begins on June 11th. Alternatively, students can also retake certain courses in summer school.
4 – Vocational training. Many programs are still accepting applications for fall.
5 – Grade 12. Offered at select private high schools and TAV college in QC.
Save the date! The LBPSB Post-Secondary Education Fair will be held at John Rennie High School on Friday, November 13th, 2026 from 9AM-12:00PM. Students will have the opportunity to explore many post-secondary educational pathways showcased at this in-person LBPSB event. A wide variety of interactive kiosks will be presented by Vocational Training Centres, CEGEPs, Ontario colleges, Canadian universities, and more! All secondary 4 , 5 and WOTP students and parents are welcome to attend.
